Two for One Hope Concert
The Two for One Hope Music Concert is an annual benefit event run by Two for One Music, a youth-led campaign that raises awareness of North Korean youth and money to support them. Each year, volunteer high school and middle school musicians from international and domestic schools come together to perform classical pieces, using live music to bring people into the conversation.
The concert is built on one idea: North Korean youth should be seen not only as recipients of aid, but as young people with their own dreams, talents, and rights. By performing alongside peers their own age, the musicians show that young people everywhere hope for many of the same things. Proceeds go toward resettlement assistance and scholarships for young North Korean defectors, helping them build stable lives and continue their education.
I have been co-president of Two for One Music since 2024. I run the tech side of the concerts, including sound and production, and I help organize each event from planning through the day of the concert.
Two for One Music
Two for One Music is a youth-led nonprofit founded in 2024 and now in its third year. We bring student musicians together to share hope through music and the arts, and to promote human rights and peace. The name reflects the idea at the heart of our work: when young musicians perform, they give something to their audience, and the audience gives something back by supporting the cause.
We are affiliated with the Youth Forum for North Korea Democratization (YFNKD). Through that connection, we organize benefit concerts and take part in educational and community programs supported by South Korea’s Ministry of Unification, including Golden Bell quiz competitions. These activities put students in direct contact with the issues we care about, and they show that young people can play a real part in human rights work.
The funds we raise through our concerts and campaigns provide resettlement assistance and scholarships for young North Korean defectors, helping them build stable lives and continue their education. Our approach is to treat these young people not only as recipients of aid but as individuals with their own dreams and rights, and our programs are designed to reflect that

Fundrasing Impact
Through the Two for One Music Hope Concerts and our related fundraising campaigns, our team raised funds and donated them to support young North Korean defectors. The proceeds paid for educational scholarships and resettlement assistance, helping students continue their education and build stable lives.
Turning Music into Opportunity
This donation ceremony was the end point of our fundraising through the Two for One Music Hope Concerts. Together with the student musicians, organizers, and supporters, we raised funds to provide scholarships and resettlement assistance for young North Korean defectors, and this is where we handed them over.
Student-Led Human Rights Advocacy
As co-president of Two for One Music, I helped organize the concerts and fundraising campaigns that support young North Korean defectors. We donated the funds we raised to pay for educational opportunities and resettlement assistance. We believe young people can contribute directly to human rights and community support, and this is how we do it.
